As the dedicated designer for the light wovens category at ONLY China, I focused on creating styles that resonated with the fast-paced and highly visual Chinese fashion market. My design process was driven by deep insight into local consumer preferences and the dynamics of digital-first retail across platforms like Taobao, WeChat Mini Shops, and Douyin (TikTok).
Key Contributions:
E-commerce-optimized design: Created pieces with strong visual impact for online platforms—emphasizing bold colors, trend-relevant silhouettes, and details that photograph well and perform in motion during live-stream selling.
Fabric & trim curation: Selected lightweight, breathable materials suited to the climate and local tastes. Paid special attention to texture, drape, and cost-effective trims that elevated the perceived value of garments within fast fashion constraints.
Consumer-driven approach: Designed with the Chinese Gen Z and Millennial shopper in mind—balancing romantic femininity with casual wearability.
Market adaptability: Responded quickly to trend shifts and sales data, contributing to capsule drops and e-commerce activations with agility and attention to commercial viability.
This experience sharpened my ability to design for one of the most competitive and dynamic fashion markets in the world—where digital aesthetics and speed to market are non-negotiable.
